Grace and peace to all of you.
We now enter the final weeks of Term A; there are only four weeks left
until we move on to the next term.
We've just finished the midterm evaluation, and I imagine you're already
starting the preparation for the final examinations. Time flies by really
fast, especially when we are having fun.
For a full and successful experience, keep up with the good work, and all
the effort will pay off in the end. Concentrate on the skills you need to
improve, always working towards understanding and comprehension, not only
memorization; this is the learning for life.
As we move toward the end of the term, take note of the following dates:
- Sept 29, Chapel by/in schools: we'll have a special speaker coming to
the EC for this date. We are preparing a great program, you won't want to
miss it.
- Oct 6-10, Final examinations: that's the last week of the term.
- Oct 8, VEPT for L4: that's the scheduled date for the graduate-level
entry test for Level 4.
- Oct 13, Placement Test (VEPT) for new students.
- Oct 13, EC Steering Committee Meeting: meeting for final evaluation
and recommendation of L4 students.
- Oct 14, registration day for new and continuing students.
- Oct 15, Term B classes start.
We are glad to say that most of you have understood, signed, and are
complying with the requirements to be an English Center student. However,
we've observed some behaviors among students, such as how they treat each
other, that violate one of our policies and are also contrary to the
expected Christian conduct.
AIIAS is an international, diverse, multicultural institution that values
each individual, independent of nationality, social status, ethnicity,
political partisanship, and religious background. As a Christian and
Bible-centered institution, we preach and practice love towards God and
towards our neighbors. For these reasons, I'm calling your attention to
Item #5 of the EC Enrollment Agreement:
"5. To contribute to a positive school environment, promote tolerance
and harmony, and refrain from behavior or comments that may damage the
image of the institution, the staff, or any school community member.
I want to highlight the word *tolerance*. We all come from different
backgrounds, but we must be united in one purpose and mission because we
are all members of Christ's body. By God's grace, in Christ, we are
brothers and sisters.
Let's practice what the apostle Paul recommended: "*Do nothing out of
selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above
yourselves, **not looking to your own interests but each of you to the
interests of the others*." Philippians 2:3-4.
I pray that we can finish these last weeks with God's blessings.
Have a great week.
